jeff tweedy 8.18.06 live from lyons, co numero uno

Written by gregor on October 22nd, 2006 in shows, tunes.

i had, up until about a week or so ago, been wilco’d out. for a good 8 -9 years i had hung on their every move or sound as it were, but something changed with the release of a ghost is born. actually the record had nothing to do with my change in feeling toward wilco, it was my own actions that caused the momentary breakup.  i just filled my life with too much wilco. i downloaded and listened to too many shows, read too much, and cared maybe a little too much. so over the past year i have sparingly listened to anything wilco/tweedy related and i stopped reading every little blurb or 5 page spread i could get my hands on. the seperation defintely was a long time coming, cause now i think i appreciate them quite a bit more than when i was just kind of going through the wilco motions.

here is mr jeff tweedy performing @ the rocky mountain folk festival in lyons, co on 8.18.06.

in other news, as you may or may not know matador is giving pavement’s oft kilter classic, wowee zowee the make over treatment.? sure thats cool and all, but as a bonus to?those of you who pre-order from your local participating?indie shop, matador is throwing in a download to a classic pavement recording, a mad magazine type poster and a rare pavement?7″.? now, if you dont have a local participating indie shop you can order through insound or i highly recommend ordering through criminal records here in atlanta.

[...] * The Tweedy solo DVD comes out tomorrow. Being someone who consumes all things Tweedy, this is something that I have been eagerly anticipating since I first heard word of it. I feel as though I should be growing out of this phase at some point, but it just hasn’t happened yet. More Cowbell has a good post about the release. If you just can’t wait, you can download a Tweedy show here. [...]

Let me tell you boys, just under my headshot are a pair of puppies and they are fake and they are sensaional! Well, even the MySpace police can’t dampen my mood after I found these three posts on the great Captains Dead blog. Two are of a recent Jeff Tweedy show where the Wilco man covers a Neil Young tune and plays a Loose Fur cut. The other is a compilation bootleg of MF Doom’s stuff which is fantastic. Enjoy and picture me with boobs please
