Glen Phillips solo stuff hasn’t been as consistent as the Toad albums (and the Toad albums weren’t all that consistent to begin with). Some good songs but we were basically going to see him because he was the only thing going on that night. The BYTF/Jay Bennett thing was announced later so we decided to do both. It saved the evening from complete adult-contemporary boredom.

I can’t speak highly enough about Glossary’s last record “For What I Don’t Become”. I think it was my favorite album of the year. I haven’t had a chance to see ‘em live yet so I can’t wait for them to spin through Chicago. Rumors swirling about them and The Drams coming through with Grand Champeen. Now that’s a show.

at first i wasnt so crazy about the tire fire record but after a few listens it really grew on me.

what is glenn phillips doing now a days? i assume he performs lots a toad songs. although, he does have a few solo records which i hear arent so good.

i will definitely check that glossary record out. i think i have their first one but i may be confusing them with someone else.

love the Backyard Tire Fire album. I actually saw them at Double Door that night. A more rare boy’s night out… we saw Glen Phillips early in the night (show sucked) and followed with a much more interesting set at Double Door with Jay Bennett and BYTF. Really was a good night of music.

Side note… if you haven’t heard Glossary, you should. They are going to be allowing downloads of their new album on their website Oct 2nd. Their last album was ridiculously good (album of the year?). This one’s sure to be good - http://www.glossary.us/

with ie bastard: sidebar is on the right. same with firefox, anyway.
though, it somehow seems that ie doesn’t show all the stuff you put up there. e.g. there is no way to get to the previous/next post or to the home page.
it’s like being stuck in a no-way road that got bricked just behind you. funny?
