sup playas? honestly the first few times i listened to the pumpkins mellon collie i thought it was a bloated/overproduced mess. interestingly enough, i still think its a bloated mess but i have come to appreciate it in all its jon favreau-ness. sure there’s a few clunkers but as far as overdramatic rock albums go, its pretty tits.

here are the billy corgan home demos to afore mentioned record. i have 3 discs of mellon collie demos, btw. if you all are interested in the other two, speak up. more to come later today.

As promised! Volume 2 of the Paris Outtakes, along with some more info on the sessions. You can sift through this uber-detailed review of the Place Pigalle rarities set, which is a slightly re-orged, four-disc compendium of Some Girls, Exile, Goats Head Soup, Black and Blue, Emotional Rescue and Tattoo You sessions. for some reason i had always strayed away from somebody still loves you boris yeltsin and the only reason i can give is that their name turned me off. not sure what i was expecting, but it sure has hell wasnt jangly pop. their new record pershing is simply just a great pop record that if you are fan of fountains of wayne, beulah, apples in stereo, etc will definitely dig these lads.

if for some reason you the slap in the face sounds of drive like jehu have never graced your ears, here are the two first tracks from their classic yank crime. from the ashes of jehu came the likes of rocket from the crypt and hot snakes, but spawned countless intimidators along the way.

wanna thank the fine folks at the scott ford radio board for hooking me up with these black rider demos. for those who dont know, the black rider is a “musical fable” in the form of a theatre production created by tom waits. in terms of sheer creepiness i would give these demos a pretty solid 7, only slightly less apocalyptic than bone machine.

the new hayden, in town and field, came out last week, or i guess two weeks ago, but i finally gotten around to checkin it out over the weekend. after a few listens, i can confidently say that this is definitely one of his, if not his best. his on going slide into neil young on the beach/after the gold rush territory is really strong with this record.

whilst, on hayden’s hardwood records site i came across this little candian vixen, basia bulat. she’s got a real 60’s songstress quality to her voice, which i very much appreciate. the music, at least this track, is upbeat if not a little quirky. again, fine with me. her oh, my darling comes out on rough trade on 2.5.08

admittedly, i have never been a big fan of the who. mostly, due to the fact that i have never tried - although, like a lot of bands, i plan on it. anyway, my man paul brought this set of who demos/rehearsals to my attention called the punk meets the godfather. click the link for more info. anyway, some very cool stuff, including the almost 12 minute, “baba o’riley.” thanks again, paul.

top of the morning all. i scoured the internets and couldnt come up with any info that would lead me to believe that these white album demos were ever released. so, i feel fairly confident that i should be ok with posting these. i believe they also go by the name of the kinfauns demos. more info can be found here.
