ah, its shit like this that makes me laugh.

i noticed that the search function didnt work so swell with the last theme thus i am testing out new themes with the hopes of just sticking with one for a while. pardon the confusion.

it truly surprises me that there isnt much of a buzz about these dudes out of athens, dead confederate. maybe there has been, and i am just oblivious to it. buzz or no, this is some awesome shit. this is going to be lazy, but i am so its par for the course, but think bleach era nirvana crossed with crazy horse. they have a newer ep out now, and a full length due this spring.

they are currently on tour, and play at star bar in atlanta on 2.29 - definitely going to attempt to check em out.

here is the beatles’ rooftop concert and let it be rehearsals. for some reason, and i can only think its because it was released, but my version is missing “dont let me down” which is the actual 3rd track. then the let it be rehearsals are missing a couple of tracks, which i can only assume for the reason. more info here.

top o the day, people. any of you see cloverfield yet? my bro saw it and said it was great, but it made him want to vomit. anyone else experiencing that whilst viewing it? is the camera work like blair witch project, because that wasnt bad at all and i am just having a hard time grasping how it can make one nauseous. in other movie related news, rambo looks awesome.

andy liotta and his the billie burke estate is an interesting melding of hook laden pop nuggets, kinda reminiscent of the first rentals record, and your classic 70’s singer/songwriter ala billy joel. his newest, let your heart break, is a concept record, that tells of the tale of tragedy in 4 acts, each of which contain 3 tracks. let your heart break features a cast of recurring characters, all of whom help tell the tale. check it out, pretty cool stuff.

ok, i have differing information on this rolling stones show. from what i have been told, at least with the information provided that this is an unreleased live show from 72. i see a bunch of reported track listings and info but much of it is differing in some way. i am not sure “heartbreaker” was actually part of the show, cause i cant get a good feel for the transitioning between that and “jumping jack flash.” so, any of you how maybe stones aficionados can you help a brotha out?

hola! thats a real god damn shame about heath ledger, huh? yet brit and winehouse continue to live. although, not sure for how much longer. you see what spears was up to today? awesome!

i know i may seem like i am becoming a broken record, with these stones, pink floyd and beatles posts, but as of late i have been too lazy to do all the flac conversions/tagging/etc. so, since they came to me with all that shit already done, its just adds to my laziness. after this pink floyd show and another stones show tomorrow, i will be branching back out starting next week.

this has been probably been floating around tons of other blog things, but its definitely worth posting. secretly canadian artist, dave fischoff, has a new project in which he is going under the moniker, spoolwork. his first job is a remix jens lekman’s “i’m leaving you because i don’t love,” and its pretty damn cool. he was sent the basic vocal track and built everything around it. check it!

just an advanced warning that i probably wont be around much, if at all, next week. i have enrolled in a ccna bootcamp and its mildly important that focus all my efforts on passing the certification at the end of the week.

whist organizing my cds for the ongoing burn-a-thon for the eventul sell off, i came across a few poster children records that i havent listened to in a long while. the strange thing about the poster kids is that i found most of my poster kids love was filled by seeing them live rather than diggin on their records. sure their records are good to great, but i listened to them only occasionally. still, back in the early to mid 90’s i was all over the poster children like a fly on shit. it was a chance encounter with em at the metro, opening up for swervedriver, back in 92 that kicked it all off. both me and my buddy had just scored some sweet fake id’s so really we were all about getting fucked up, but in moment of clarity i put my beer down and paid attention. i had never heard of the poster children, but fuckin a if the racket they were makin didnt sound like the most glorious sounds known to man. i didnt have a beer the rest of the night, a feat few bands can achieve. that is coming between me and my beer. i saw a whole bunch of times over the coming years and every show was and are some of the best i have ever witnessed. best in the terms that i cant recall ever having as much fun as i have had a poster kids show. i saw em open up for the archers of loaf at the fireside and they blew an otherwise awesome live band out of the building. the last time was in 95 back at the metro. the crowd was awesome and so were the kids. they seemed to play forever and capped the night off with at least 3 encores. check em out!

this is not a definitive little collection just some of the best that i had laying around. you can buy all their records in downloadable form on their site.

heres a couple “im not too sure abouts”…they sound like they could have potential but…

quinn luke dba bing ji ling is a soulful honky, ill give him that much. i just wish i could give more. i actually dig his voice, and what i think he’s trying to convey but the music, itself, is another story. its too slick, to the point where it sounds like pitbull or chingy is going to pop up at any moment for some bullshit rhyme interlude. if the music was more organic, i think it would have faired much better. still kinda dig it though, i guess.

antifolk founder? and artist, lach, has a record coming out on 3.25.08 entitled the calm before and it will probably find its way into a few hearts. mine? not too sure about. the songwriting could be seen as a wee bit pretentious but it wouldnt be the first time i latched onto something overly convoluted.

man, what a new year’s eve! fuckin par-tay! all i know is it ended up at about 5 am in a heated/passionate intermingling of limbs and various other party parts. there was a moment last night, when i was sandwiched between the two finnish dwarves and the maori tribesmen, where i thought yeah, i wish this night would go on forever. no that didnt happen. i actually sat at work and watched that daredevil guy jump the length of a football field. awesome! hope you all fucked shit up appropriately.

hey, any of you peeps in the atlanta and/or tampa area use t-mobile? i just signed with ‘em and was curious how the coverage was in the area. judging by the maps, it seems like it should be pretty good. i totally geeked out and got myself a blackberry pearl - which i am mildly psyched about. thanks for any input.

for those of you in the nyc area there’s a very cool performance going on at the church of saint paul the apostle on 1.16 and 17. the 50 piece wordless music orchestra conducted by brad lubman will feature works of gavin bryers’ the sinking of the titanic, jonny greenwood’s popcorn superhet receiver and john adams’ christian zeal and activity. tickets are 30 bucks and can be purchased by clicking here.

a record i totally neglected last year was hallelujah the hills’ collective psychosis begone. its a great pop record that really tries not to be, much akin to jay bennett’s summerteeth era wilco. i am not sure why i just started getting into within the last week of the year cause it’s pretty great and its not a record that requires any amount of work to realize so.
