don’t you dare take the name of texas in vain

anyone going to see isbell this sunday in atlanta? i will be there with my lady enjoying a late 7 year anniversary nights out sans child. its free so there really is no good excuses not to go.
i have given cease to begin the twice over since i got home and for those hoping for a everything all the time part 2 dont go holdin your breathe. when ben said this was going to be a more southern record he wasnt kidding. i can say after two listens though that its pretty fuckin great albeit not as immediately accessible as the before mentioned record. in case you havent heard it here is “is there a ghost” from cease to begin.
there was and never will be another band quite like morphine. mark sandman, r.i.p., and co. were truly a one in a million type of band. it would be almost impossible, and probably quite embarrassing, to attempt to recreate their sound, but even more difficult to try and recreate their mood. as far as i am concerned, there is no greater soundtrack to a late night/early morning, that has been filled with too many smokes and too much booze, than any morphine record. classic stuff.
here they are performing @ lehigh university on 4.26.98. its a soundboard, btw.

Hi!
I don’t remember the first time i heard Morphine on the radio exactly in France but I immediately dig the music, the jazz pulsion, Mark Sandman voice , the groove, the sax and the way he was playing bass on just two strings. That’s cool to put it up here.
The Detroit Bootleg(official)is another show to consider if you like Morphine.
Thanks.
Wow!
Thanks for this post (& many others). I had the good fortune of not only seeing Morphine on this tour but also meeting them @ the Black Cat in Wash DC. They were great guys; very down to earth. My girlfriend & I spoke with Mark Sandman for a good 20 minutes, which in the world of “backstage” is an eternity. What a fantastic performer & a world-class human being. And what a loss as well, that fateful day in Italy…
Play something good,
