oh i dont argue that the production/instrumentation on skm is much better than the earlier rhp stuff. my thing is that no matter the incarnation, you can always tell its kozelek. theres just no way around it. in fact the only real album that makes you think differently is blue guitar, which happens to be my favorite kozelek record.

you don’t think so? for me the difference was night and day in terms of the bright production & instrumentation on Ghosts. sure he was leaning that way with Old Ramon, but anything older than that record doesn’t sound all that similiar to SKM to me.

i was always a casual RHP fan, Sun Kil Moon slayed me and is far and away easily the best thing he’s done (w/ Ocean Beach & Songs for a Blue Guitar not TOO far behind).

maybe with repeated listens i will hear what your hearing, but after a few it reminds me of ocean beach stuff. lets be honest though, there isnt that much of a difference between rhp and sun kil moon.

hmm… Moorestown sounds VERY very much like Sun Kil Moon over RHP honestly. it sounds like it could be the “Gentle Moon” of this new album.

personally i can’t get enough of this track and have prolly spun it a good 20-30x already
