sometimes she partied with townies

hola, friends. whats goin on? me? you ask? fuckin nothin, at all. just enjoying a sweet water 420 and watching the comedic genius of ryan reynolds in just friends. am i the only one that, for no real reason, finds themself really liking mr reynolds? there is something oddly likable about em, even though he looks like your typical joey douchebag.

dont know much about this dude, cory chisel, but i do know i am lovin this track from cabin ghosts ep. kinda reminds me of a 00’s version of the much under appreciated chicago troubadour, michael mcdermott. which is also like comparing him to springsteen circa greetings… definitely look forward to hearing a full length from him.

j roddy & the business are opening for the hold steady on their upcoming tour. they kind of remind me of the boys of philly, marah, but much drunker and more willing to whip your ass. i dig em, but i am only judging my appreciation off of these two tracks. chiggity check em out!

hey Gregor…I’ll have to dig into J Roddy a bit more. Never heard ‘em but like the samples. If they are opening for The Hold Steady, they must be doing something right.

Oh, and definitely count me in as a big Blue Mountain fan. Saw them a couple of times at Lounge Ax and Fitzgeralds over the years. Haven’t seen the reunited version as of yet but hope to.

speaking of Marah, i hope those kids from Philly regroup and put on a US tour…there’s rumors afoot that they’ve split up…

What is that line (”sometimes she partied with townies”) from?

  • gregor on June 24th, 2008 at 9:29 am

blue, sadly i never got to see blue mountain the first time around.

jeffro, i have not heard that and it for some reason doesnt surprise me. i always heard that they were pretty volatile. their last record kinda confused me..

jsf3000, its from the hold steady’s “one for the cutters” off stay positive.

Some bad static at the end of “Little Hoodrat Friend”–but I ain’t even caring. Thanks for posting this!

  • gorjus on June 24th, 2008 at 3:41 pm

Heck, it also looks like the end of “Discouraged” is cut off.

  • gregor on June 24th, 2008 at 3:50 pm

hmmm, i shall look into it. i will re-up em and see what happens. thanks for letting me know..

Color me jealous … had me some Sweetwater 420 on tap at Bonnaroo in TN .. they don’t sell, bottle or ship Sweetwater to California. Major bummer dude. Nice blog though.

Wow great setlist, great sound quality. Once again, thanks. Any chance of getting the last two tracks fixed?

  • gregor on July 15th, 2008 at 12:38 am

yeah nigel its a great show and you may want to try the tracks again cause they work for me. i was messing with some stuff so that may have caused them not to work…

  • Nigel on July 16th, 2008 at 2:32 am

Nope, the last 30 seconds of track #11 is still static and track #12 cuts off in mid-sentence. If it helps, this show is on http://www.holdsteady.blogspot.com. I know, you’re thinking “Then go download it from there, dumb-ass!” Unfortunately, my dial-up doesn’t allow me to D.L. fat zip files.

  • gregor on July 16th, 2008 at 4:20 am

i shall check on that nigel, and i guess the better question is why the hell you still using dial up? if its a money thing, i understand but other than that there’s absolutely no reason not to have at least dsl. or do you live in the boonies?

  • Nigel on July 16th, 2008 at 12:20 pm

    It’s all about the $$$.
