top of the evening, y’all. firstly, the site is going to be going through some changes over the next few weeks. so, just bare with me. secondly, for those livin in the new york area, i am indeed jealous of this, this being two performances by built to spill of their classic perfect from now which is takin place @ terminal 5 on 9.25 and 26. thirdly, for those that live in georgia, learn proper fuckin high beam, or brights as i call em, etiquette. if you see a car coming in the opposite direction on a two lane road, turn them the fuck off when you see said car coming in the opposing direction. thanks…

june 24th is fast approaching and i, for one, am looking forward to the re-release of liz phair’s exile in guyville. actually, i am approaching it with restrained giddiness. mostly due to the fact that it’s remastered, which i cant see being a good thing. fucking with brad wood’s production is, in my book, a big time sin. at least a quarter of what makes exile so brilliant is the production. anyway, here is remastered version of “fuck and run.” i have yet to listen to it.

fuck and run

i have had austins’ the black angles’ directions to see a ghost on the ol’ ipod for a while now, but up until a week ago i hadn’t listened to it for one reason or another. but, in my week long stint with it, i can easily state that it bests their spaceman 3/velvet underground heavy debut, passover - which was one of my favorites of 06. check em out…

i quite enjoyed sheffield’s 65 days of static’s last record, one time for all time.  their glitchy, squarepusher inspired version of math rock breaks up the monotony of a sometimes very tiring genre.  they have a new record entitled the destruction of small ideas and are opening for the cure during their fall tour.  the problem with instrumental bands is that sometimes taking individual tracks out of the context of the entire record doesnt quite do em justice.  such is the case, i hope, with these two tracks off of the destruction of small ideas.  they are not bad by any means, but neither stood out as something i havent already heard 100 times before.

i dont know much about josh preston other than he is half owner of me and the machine records, he has a record entitled between memory and mortality, and i really dig the song “picture” off said record.

i dont pay enough attention to carla bozulich although i know i should.  why dont i you ask? i cant come up with a good excuse.  everything she has done since the geraldine fibbers lost somewhere between the earth and my home i have been completely enamored by.  her take on willie nelson’s red headed stranger is absolutely wonderful and last years evangelista is pretty great.  again, whats my problem?
