top o’ the day to you all. man the past couple of days have been absolutely beautiful down here in atlanta. its been a much needed reprieve from the repressive heat that plagues us for what seems to be forever.

according to a press release i just received, the finest band to come from canada in recent memory, the constantines, have jumped from sub pop and signed with toronto based arts and crafts. it also states that they in the studio at the moment recording the follow up to 05’s tournament of hearts. as good as tournament of hearts is, shine a light, in my opinion, is one of the best records of the past 5 years. shine a light, in simple terms, is just an awesome no bullshit rock record. in case you have slept on these guys here’s an offering.

i went through a pretty big aerosmith kick during my early 20’s. to my credit, though, it was the mid 70’s aerosmith that i dug, and i have to admit i liked permanent vacation quite a bit especially when i was in junior high. but a lot of their 70’s stuff, most notably rocks and toys in the attic, is still pretty kick ass, as i just listened to some of it the other day.

here are them men from beantown playing in their hometown on 12.03.80.
