yes, greedo; i was just coming to see your boss.

its not rare for me to listen a song or an album over and over again in succession many times over. i am very compulsive that way - it drives my wife nuts. speaking of my compulsive behaviour the one album i have been, once again, diggin deep into is david vandervelde’s fantastic the moonstation house band. what drew me back into moonstation was the lead single and probably my favorite of the year, “nothin no.” i, seriously, have listened to that song more than a few hundred times over the past week. there is so much more going on, musically, on “nothin no” and really throughout the record that i originally gave it credit for. it even sounds wonderful in my shitty ipod supplied head phones, i could only imagine how great it would sound with a pair of shures or some brand of the like.
nothin no
secretly canadian is releasing “nothin no” as an extended single featuring a couple new songs and an alternate version of “feet of a liar” which was recorded for daytrotter.
listen up american catastrophe you gots a lot of balls naming your first record after the first and finest of the rambo installments, first blood. ah, you didnt? ok, nevermind. there is no denying the guy sounds a lot like nick cave but they seem to have a more appalachian folk vibe much like 16 horsepower. hopefully the whole record is half as cool as “the well.” the only problem i forsee is that his voice my get kinda samey, not unlike mr caves, after awhile. i’ll report later uponan actual listen of said record.
