travel quietly out from the passage

if selene was a dude, she shot a huge load this week. i am still recuperating from my vacation, which by my guesstimation will last at least 3-4 weeks. its fuckin hard to get back into a groove after even the briefest of layoffs.

in case you missed it, aquarium drunkard interviewed will johnson the other week and it was revealed, at least to me, that he recorded a record with jason molina earlier this year which is going to be released early next year. record unheard, that has potential to be the best record of 09.

i read somewhere that this is one of only like the second or third time that south san gabriel shared a stage with centro-matic. i guess its not surprising considering that would mean most of them putting on a 3/3.5 hour show every night and really only uncle bob is capable of such stamina.

so, here is south san gabriel at dan’s bar in denton, tx. thanks to the original taper!

hola, gaywads! hope everyone is enjoying their respective weekends. my 4 days off are coming to an abrupt end, with another 11 day stretch ahead of me. yeah.. hey mr. drunkard has the new my morning jacket “evil urges” available for your listening/downloading pleasure, here. i was, honestly, unimpressed with my first go around with it, but after a few more listens i am definitely diggin it - sounds almost like mmj fronted by prince. admittedly, i am still getting used to the more groove-centric mmj, as z did nothing for me the first 20 or so listens.

i am really liking this bowerbirds record, hymns for a dark horse. they remind me of early iron and wine, andrew bird and a more cohesive devendra banhart. check em out!

i am surprised i never heard of the pedaljets during their “hey day” of the late 80’s - they called it quits in 1990. they apparently opened for the likes of the replacements, husker du, flaming lips, meat puppets, etc and even had a video on heavy rotation on the late, great mtv classic 120 minutes. i think that actually still runs, but i am sure its as inconsequential as it has been for the last 15+ years. anyway, when their self-titled record was released back in 89, the band was none to happy with its production. fastforward, 17 years and they band got back together and decided to re-do the record with the original masters. they even re-recruited my man archer prewitt(sea and cake, the coctails) to do the cover artwork - he did the original cover art back in 89. it’s being re-released via oxblood on 5.6.
