hidy ho! i dont know about you, but i am so political coveraged out and we got two fuckin months to go. i really cant stomach one more shot of wolf blitzer’s beard, dick morris’ ever expanding noggin and subsequent jowls, the shine reflecting off anderson cooper’s mane, etc, etc… this too shall pass, i know, but in the mean time i feel like i am taking crazy pills and the sad thing is is that i cant look away. its as grossly addictive as two girls, one cup.

sooooo, lambchop has got a new one comin out entitled OH (ohio) on 10.7, and as all lambchop records it tis simply sublime. pre-order OH (ohio) from merge, here. here is the first single from said record. oh, and in case you have yet to delved into calexico’s brilliant carried to dust as of yet i’ve got the first single off that too.

the problem with releasing a record a january/february is that no matter how great a record is is that it will inevitably get lost in the fray. such is the case with the truckers’ brighter than creations dark. yesterday i proclaimed that carried to dust is probably my favorite record of the year, but after re-visiting brighter i want to retract that statement about carried to dust and place record of the year firmly on brighter than creations dark. i am standing by that, for now.

here they are playing at the visulite theatre in charlotte, nc on 7.29.04.  its a 30 song set and part two will be posted tomorrow. this available on archive dot org in mp3 and flac format. if you dont feel like dealing with tagging the show go grab it here, or just wait til tomorrow. much love to taper roy for taping it and making it available. this is a awesome sounding show.

here is the first video off calexico’s carried to dust for the single “two silver trees.” the video is directed by james fleischel - the name sounds familiar, but where do i know it from? i am going to go out on a limb and say, at this point, carried to dust is my favorite record of the year.
