afternoon, peoples. ted leo and the pharmacists released an ep today entitled rapid response which is meant to be a response to the bullshit police state like tactics that happened during the rnc in minneapolis. from ted:
Real people were hurt in St. Paul, and real people have bills to pay, and real people need funding to continue their good works. We (the band and I) were all feeling these events as deeply as we could from our 1200 mile remove, and so as not to feel entirely powerless, and in an attempt to contribute SOMETHING to that continuation of those good works, we wrote a song and recorded it…
the ep can be purchased for 4 bucks via the touch and go site. they also give you the option of paying a little bit more with all proceeds going to various charities.
in a long line of “didnt see this comin’s,”eric bachmann’s crooked fingers is releasing forfeit/fortune on 10.7. supposedly its their most eclectic affair and if “phony revolutions” is any indication of the direction of the record it’s going to be an interesting ride. amongst the supporting artists sprinkled throughout forfeit/fortune are brian kotzur from the silver jews, tom hagerman of devotchka fame, and neko case - eric and neko’s duet, “your control,” closes out the album.
