happy birthday, little buddy! this pic was taken shortly after losing a hard faught battle with the corner of a wall. sadly, he and his head lost. the remnants of the battle can be seen around his right temple.
dont know about you, but i was pretty disappointed by todays ipod unveilings. sure, the nano looks actually pretty sweet, its hard to fit hundreds of gigs of shit on one. dont even get me started on the touch refresh and they drop the 160 gig classic. feels like they are going backwards here. i know the classic will eventually, if not shortly, be phased out but they really got to get that touch capacity up to about 80-100 before i am will consider one. ok, i could 64 gigs, but dont even try to charge $500 for it.
if for some strange reason you haven’t checked out okkervil river’s the lovely new record, stand ins, you probably should. really, fuckin do it. jeez…

touch and go just announced that they recently signed atlanta trio all the saints to their already almost untouchable roster. sadly, i had not heard of these young lads until today, but i am really liking the first single, “sheffield,” from their record fire on corridor x/. they sound a bit like raise era swervedriver or maybe early jesus and mary chain. fire on corridor x is out now on killer pimp, but will be released digitally via touch and go on today, or well i guess yesterday depending on your time zone and on wax on 11.14. so, you got options here people. regardless of the road you choose definitely check em out.

denton, tx’s matthew and the arrogant sea’s interestingly titled family family family meets the magic christian is coming out or maybe out now on robert gomez and eric pulido of midlake’s nova posta vinyl label. havent gotten a chance to delve into it yet, but so judging by these two tracks it sounds interesting enough to warrant a few listens.
riyl: fleet foxes, midlake, beach house, maybe the moody blues, iron and wine

the ladies at when awake coerced bj warshaw of parts and labor fame to come clean on his “top 10 countryish/folkish songs by artists that people don’t consider to be country/folk.” clicky here for the goods. parts and labor, who? you say? here’s a track from their excellent record, mapmaker.
