before i forget to mention, the men of mercury rev have two new albums out now, one free, the other, well, is not free but definitely worth your hard earned cash. the free one is entitled, strange attractor and can be gotten by merely signing up for the rev mailing list, here. strange attractor serves as a companion piece to the not free one, but much more sublime, snowflake midnight.

dont have anything available off snowflake midnight, but here’s one from strange attractor.

for the first three mercury rev records i was a pretty mild mannered fan. i dug em, but i just always felt there was something missing or something i couldnt connect with. then they released deserter’s songs. where their first three releases were much like the long strange shroom trips, deserter’s songs was/is like a waltzing innocently into a child’s nightmare. even with this underlying sense of wickedness, deserter’s songs is a beautiful record and as far as i’m concerned, there’s no other record quite like it. a true classic.

here they are playing at the corner hotel in melbourne on 9.30.99. it was broadcasted on 10.18.99 on jjj - i am presuming that its an australian radio station.
