clean colon: flatter tummy

sup, fools? got my mother fuckin stimulus check yesterday! hellz yeah!! i held it in my hand for all of 30 minutes and off to the bank it went, never to be seen or heard from again. i got these things called action bills i need to pay. fuckin white man’s got their foot on my neck.

any of you tards seein waits in knoxville? i know i sure the fuck am and it just so happens to someone’s birthday. so beers on you, bitches!

firstly, speaking of tom, that scarjo record is a fucking disgrace. she has no business trying to pull this kind of shit off. an entire record of waits songs?! she’s got some nuts, but i will give her credit for going big. with that said, i dont know whose face she got those luscious tits of hers next to but that dude better have gotten a real good peek/feel to green light this shit. i even tried creating a creepy johansson mosaic to look at whilst listening in an effort to “enhance” the experience, but all it did was put me to sleep shortly there after.

secondly, you guys hear the new hold steady song “sequestered in memphis?’ while i really dig it, i am beginning to feel that mr finn is beginning to lean a little to heavy on, well, shit/situations being “heavy” and people/ne-er-do-wells being “scared.” just saying is all.. you can stream it on their myspace page or get it from itunes.

this richard buckner interview, from a few months ago, depressed the hell out of me, not only because i hate hearing that things are “drying up for him” but the inevitablity that this will sooner or later start affecting more artists like him. apparently merge doesnt want to put out anything until ‘09 and no one wants to book him until a new record comes out. all of which makes little to no sense. even if merge didnt want to release a physical copy of the record have they not learned that a digital only release may be a viable option?  unfortunately, artists like richard only have so much of a shelf life in between records and two years in between them is a killer now a days. how long can artists like richard go on making a decent livin playing places like schubas, the earl, etc their entire career? at some point they have to outgrow those smaller places or they’re left in richards current situation. sad state of affairs for some of our most gifted artists. maybe i should start my own digital only label and start releasing stuff. i just may…

matthew loiacono is a member of the upstate new york band, the kamikaze hearts. for those that dont know, the kamikaze hearts’ oneida road was my favorite record of the 06 and in my book has since achieved the minor classic plateau. then it would be safe to assume that a man who was partly responsible for creating such a piece of work would be able to achieve a similar end result, correct? sure, why not? but its really not fair. so, i will say this, his soon to be released kentucky is a fantastic voyage into world of fractured folk centered mostly around the mandolin, banjo and sometimes only accompanied by nothing more than a stomping foot. matthew works the banjo and mandolin in ways that this guy who doesnt play either would have never thought possible. it was recorded in a basement in upstate new york in february, i can only assume it was hella cold but only adds to the atmosphere he’s created. think califone fronted by a less effected, or is it affected?, tim kinsella. kentucky is due out on 6.3 via collar city records and/or your point your local browser to itunes, amazon, etc.

two bands/records that i am still on the fence about are the terrordactyls and their self titled debut and no age’s nouns. nouns on one hand harkens me back to the lower-fi glory days of early superchunk, label mates mudhoney and present day constantines, which is all fine and awesome but there’s something about the finished product that i find both refreshing and mildly annoying. maybe they’re suckin the teet a little too much? i dont know? the terrordactyls are supposedly part of the whole anti-folk movement, which i dig, but they may be a little too cute. the songs are charming, for sure, but i think they are too fey for my liking. i still may come around, though.

i never got into portishead their first time around, and honestly i still really haven’t, but i do really dig this performance - its a soundboard from back in 95 and its actually two separate performances - they are tagged accordingly. i have the new one sitting on my external hard drive, but havent loaded it on the ipod as of yet. is it worth checking out?
