peteetong! need sleep… i got a bunch of shit coming later today, but until i wake myself from the slumber to come here is an awesome shellac show recorded live in tokyo in november of 1993. this was originally released in japan back in 94 but in a very very limited pressing. here is wee bit more info, if you care.
before i forget, i wanted to mention, and this guy kicks all kinds of ass, but p.w. long’s god bless drunkards dog is finally being released on cd on 5.27 after being a vinyl only release for a while. he’s kinda hard to describe but if you took the likes of richard buckner, william elliot whitmore and the black crowes and forced them into some freaky sausage fest with rich robinson somehow giving birth, it would probably sound like p.w. long. definitely worth your time.
the men of shellac dont give a fuck what you or i think. you want proof? listen to any shellac record and i think its pretty evident that they dont. cold and mechanical is the way of shellac and nobody does it better. shellac was the perfect soundtrack for my days of meandering through the streets of the cold and depressing chicago winters. whether it was making my way to the bus/el or stumbling out of bar/record shop, shellac was never far from my ears. they are really the only music that makes me wanna shove someone and then laugh in delight.
their new record, excellent italian greyhound, is classic shellac. if you already dig that uneasy feeling that each shellac record can give ya then you will definitely not be disappointed. in fact, its probably their best since at action park.
here they are performing @ the music unlimited festival on 11.11.01.
