i love the smoking popes. i really, really do. with that said, i was really apprehensive about their new one, stay down. really for no other reason than the fact they’ve been away for a while now. the party’s over was released in 03, but it was actually recorded in like 97/98. so, i dont think my fear was unfounded but maybe misguided. as it turns out, and really no surprise, stay down is pure pop/punk bliss.
