firstly, if you dig cockstar photography, with cockstar = the likes of wilco, will oldham, bobby conn, etc, jim newberry is one of my faves and actually a helluva nice guy. a few years back i “accidentally” used one of his photos without his consent. he emailed me re: my blunder and was kind of enough to let me keep using the photo, with a photo credit of course. still, he could have been a dick, and wasnt.
chicagoan, by way la and minnesota, anni rossi is a lass you are are either going to really enjoy, or really dislike. i, for one, really dig her quirkiness and over dramatic tendencies, which are kind of in line with the likes of joanna newsom and martha wainright. she’s got a new mini-lp coming out on 10.21 entitled afton. afton was recorded back in 06, but she is currently working on her debut, which is slated for an early 09 release, with mr steve albini in his legendary electrical audio studio.

before i forget, i wanted to mention, and this guy kicks all kinds of ass, but p.w. long’s god bless drunkards dog is finally being released on cd on 5.27 after being a vinyl only release for a while. he’s kinda hard to describe but if you took the likes of richard buckner, william elliot whitmore and the black crowes and forced them into some freaky sausage fest with rich robinson somehow giving birth, it would probably sound like p.w. long. definitely worth your time.
what is going on? i have spent the better part of the day trying to configure, or better yet get my brains around this god damn ndiswrapper which, in many instances, you need to use to help you gain access to the internets via a wireless network. still havent got it figured out. so lets cut the chit chat, and just get with the good stuff.
