Some photos from last weekend’s Newport Folk Festival, from a roundup that I did for my main gig.
I was stunned to find out you can’t embed Flickr galleries. Pictobuilder was by far the easiest widget I found. Thanks to Diego for creating it! You have to hover over “notes” in order to see captions.
sometime last week i woke up with james’ “out to get you” playing in my head. i hadnt listened to laid in probably 5 years or so, but of course i then had to revisit it. cant remember off the top of my head when it came out but i know it was in the early 90’s, but it still sounds really fuckin good. maybe later on today i will whip out the hard drive to find a few tracks from it.
i have come to the decision to start breaking out posts in two categories. the two being shows and new/older stuff. so, when i post a show i wont talk about anything else and when i talk about new and older stuff i wont be posting a show. got it? just thought i’d let ya know. not that it really makes much of a difference, it will just make it easier on me.
any who, here is a lovely recording of rick danko at nightstages in cambridge, mass on 5.14.88. “it makes no difference” is awesome, btw.
sup peoples? not much going on today except this lovely broadcast of the band performing live @ the palladium on 9.18.76. it was originally broadcasted on wbcn. this copy doesnt include the actual track 12 “forbidden fruit” because it was officially released.
as you may or may not have noticed a lot of files arent available at the moment. i am working on uploading them at this time for i have changed hosting providers yet again. i got issues i know. i think, though, that i have finally found a home that will suit this place. i will be uploading tons of stuff today so just check back later tonite. if its older than 2 - 3 months it may not be uploaded but if you want it just contact me and i will attempt to locate it for you.
i often find myself pondering over many musical situations. one of them being, “if i could go back in time who would i go and see live?” i go back and forth, of course, but i always go back to wanting to see the band for some reason. sure, i love their music but its not like i am the hugest fan. i think its cause i find them and their place in musical history quite fascinating on many levels.
here they are playing on 8.16.76 @ the carter baron amphitheatre in washington, dc. its a lovely soundboard recording.
in other news, i am on a serious sarah silverman kick as of late. her show is so freakin wrong but i havent laughed so hard and so frequently in a long ass while - even if i feel kinda bad laughing at things like “i wish the retarded were re-smarted.”
