ummm, yeah.? i have not been so smitten with a young lady in a magazine since the early days of heidi klum.? ms marisa miller is one spicy enchilada - as i heard someone once refer to a lovely young lady.? she’s not even really my type at all, but dear lord if there isnt something about her that makes the butterflies in my stomach flutter.? it almost pains me to know that she exists and that some lucky son of a bitch is probably allowing her go to bed unsatisfied just like i would.
two and a half musical notes of interest:
1. the new modest mouse is not good, i am sorry to report.? it may grow on me, i dont know.? details to follow in a couple o’ days.? on the other hand, the new ted leo is pretty fuckin righteous.
2. wilco has announced the semi-official track listing for their upcoming, sky blue sky record.? for some reason i have yet to hear any of the tracks on said record outside of a live version of “walken” - which i thought was just ok.? please dont disappoint me boys, i love you.
here is mr tweedy performing at the vic in chicago on 3.5.05.? this was a benefit show for chicago childrens memorial hospital.
one of my main character flaws is that i tend to obsess over shit. typically, its over stuff that is so ridiculous its almost embarrasing - you’ll see here in a second what i mean. over the past couple of days it has come to light that i have a deep rooted hatred for star jones. she’s like a gruesome traffic accident that i cant keep my eyes off. she has absolutely no relevance in my life, and most likely anyone with any damn sense or self respect, but i’ll be damned if i cant get her image outta my head. she has to be the ugliest and most despicable human being alive. she just has to be! does anyone else get this way about people or stuff?
one song that i have been obsessing over lately is “incident at conklin creek” by richmond fontaine. if you have never listened to their ‘05 release the fitzgerald i cant recommend it enough. if you dig calexico minus all the horns, the somber whiskeytown stuff or richard buckner, these guys will definitely be up your alley.
btw, if you happen to have comcast cable with on demand, there is a very cool ted leo documentary of his performance at coney island from 03 on concert tv. thanks to matt for pointing this out.
since moving to the atlanta area i have become quite a big falcons fan. now, they wont ever over take the bears but they are damn fun to watch, even though they are quite frustrating. todays game, at least offensively, should have solidified a new look falcons. the falcons will never go all they way, see super bowl, running the ball - no matter how great the ground game is. vick can throw the ball, i think thats apparent, but he has to start early to get himself and his receivers into a groove. once he gets going it will open up the ground game and should cause the opposing defense to question their selection of defensive sets. what the fuck am i talking about? i dont even know, and i know quite a bit about football.heres the remainder of the tweedy show. wanted to say thanks to the original taper.
i had, up until about a week or so ago, been wilco’d out. for a good 8 -9 years i had hung on their every move or sound as it were, but something changed with the release of a ghost is born. actually the record had nothing to do with my change in feeling toward wilco, it was my own actions that caused the momentary breakup. i just filled my life with too much wilco. i downloaded and listened to too many shows, read too much, and cared maybe a little too much. so over the past year i have sparingly listened to anything wilco/tweedy related and i stopped reading every little blurb or 5 page spread i could get my hands on. the seperation defintely was a long time coming, cause now i think i appreciate them quite a bit more than when i was just kind of going through the wilco motions.
here is mr jeff tweedy performing @ the rocky mountain folk festival in lyons, co on 8.18.06.
the remainder will be posted after the falcons game.
in other news, as you may or may not know matador is giving pavement’s oft kilter classic, wowee zowee the make over treatment.? sure thats cool and all, but as a bonus to?those of you who pre-order from your local participating?indie shop, matador is throwing in a download to a classic pavement recording, a mad magazine type poster and a rare pavement?7″.? now, if you dont have a local participating indie shop you can order through insound or i highly recommend ordering through criminal records here in atlanta.
anyone have a waffles of what invite they can share? por favor! i am a well versed in such things and keep excellent ratios...love you..
