when you awake you will remember everything

sup, peoples? tis beautiful here in chicago and the waits show was pretty awesome. although, the space was a wee bit stuffy and the seats were less than comfortable, but that didnt take away from the awesomeness of the show. say hi to selene, she is going to be contributing to captains dead when the spirit moves her and will hopefully become a regular contributor - i just have to find a way to not piss her off. few things about selene: she likes cats, starting fires, spam email, howard the duck, proper punctuation, the hovaround, george stephanopolous, boston sports teams aka bandwagon jumpers, and 14th century fonts. again, say hi or dont…

Caught San Diego’s Delta Spirit here in Boston last week. They were especially hyped to me prior to going (people in band’s camps will do that). I held on till the end, and dug, along with a handful of others, the corralled sing-along “People, Turn Around.” It reminded me of someone — oh yes, the Teenage Prayers, and specifically, their “Dreams of the South.” But when you send similar influences through a sieve, it’s bound to come out sounding like the samesomeoneoranother.

So, let’s have a band off of these Band bands — yes, like that gay radio station. Because contests and rock n roll go hand in hand!

Which gets your vote?

The Teenage Prayers - Dreams of the South

Delta Spirit - People Turn Around

A few more to ruminate on. Mmmm tasty rock-n-soul.

Heading to Fitzgeralds music fest on 4th of July… give me a holla if there is any chance of you heading up there. Jon Dee Graham, Holmes Brothers and Ian Mclagan are the highlights.
